Happy Halloween, Sweet Spirits!

Published October 23, 2012 by valerietalksbooks

As many of you prepare to take your children trick-or-treating, or as you prepare to attend a Halloween party yourself — have you given any thought to the origins of Halloween?

It began as an ancient Celtic belief, which they referred to as All Hallows Eve.  The thought was that it was the one night of the year when spirits were closer to Earth and therefore could more easily contact us and vice versa.

But as any medium will tell you, or as anyone who believes in the spirit world knows, it is possible to contact or be contacted by those on the other side any day of the year — no need to wait for October 31!

All it takes is an open mind and some expert tips on spirit contact, which I will gladly share with you here:

Most importantly, don’t doubt yourself where spirit contact is concerned.  If you are open to the concept of communicating with the other side, it’s very likely that you may very well be receiving messages from loved ones and friends in spirit.  Have you ever felt a cold breeze blow by, even though no doors or windows were open?  Have you thought you saw a shadow or mist out of the corner of your eye?  Maybe you have even thought you’ve heard a faint voice calling your name.  If this happens to you, don’t necessarily dismiss it as your imagination.  Instead, pause and talk to the spirit.  Say, “Mom — is that you?”  Then wait to hear if a rap or tap follows.

I urge you to say, “If you’re a good spirit, you’re welcome.”  Always preface any spirit contact with this phrase, because you certainly don’t want to encourage a negative spirit to make an appearance.

It’s often helpful to establish a code for communicating, such as one knock for yes, two for no, or whatever you decide is your preference.  Then share your code out loud as you talk to the spirits, and wait to see what develops. This can help with the process of elimination in determining just who the spirit is who has arrived, for you can say, for example, “If you are my sister Ellen, rap once for yes.” It can take some time — remember that it takes great energy for spirits to enter our Universe once again.

As you may know, I believe strongly in meditating with various colored candles to help with certain situations.  For spirit contact, I suggest the color red.  Red is an energy color and spirits seem to be attracted to it.  So try sitting with a tall, dinner-style, non-scented red candle for about 5 minutes at a time, calling out to the spirits and then waiting for their response.  You don’t need to precisely time the meditation, but don’t work so long that you overtire yourself or those on the other side. Then blow out the candle and get the smoke in the palms of your hands, to complete the connection with the candle and the spirit.

We can’t demand that a particular spirit come in.  We can only request.  Spirits are very busy on the other side and as I said, it often takes a tremendous  amount of effort on their behalf to make an appearance, particularly if they are not experienced with contacting those of us on Earth. Be patient…and be open to the possibility that another spirit might come in instead — often it might be someone who is a messenger on behalf of the one you were planning to contact.  Or it might be a spirit who has a more important message to relay at the moment.  And I can’t stress enough that you repeat “If you’re a good spirit, you’re welcome”, because you want to only open yourself up to the positive spirit energy around you.

Above all, please do not attempt to hold a seance alone or even with like-minded friends.  This is best left in the hands of an experienced medium because you are otherwise too vulnerable to negative entities.  The same applies to the use of a Ouija board.  This is not a game, Sweet Spirits!  I cannot tell you the amount of times people have come up to me at a lecture or book signing and relayed very frightening experiences with the Ouija board, because a negative spirit preyed upon them.

When in doubt, it’s my opinion that you should leave a detailed spirit contact to the expert hands of an experienced medium.  But this is not to say that you can’t fully enjoy and receive comfort from brief encounters with your spirit loved ones on your own.

My wish for you, not only on Halloween but on any one of the 365 days a year, is that you and the spirit world can share a very special and rewarding rendezvous.

My Client Marilyn Monroe’s 50th Anniversary of Passing

Published August 3, 2012 by valerietalksbooks

Imagine! Fifty years ago this weekend, the world lost a legend — and she is still one of the most iconic figures of all time.  Her name is Marilyn Monroe.

Three days before she passed, in August 1962, my telephone rang in the early evening.  I answered and the voice said, “Hello You; This is Me.” I started to laugh and said, “Come on, Marilyn.  No one is listening.”  She laughed, too.  We had started using this private greeting so that no one would recognize her when she called me.  But I knew the phone call this evening was private and we could talk freely.  It was then that she told me she was not going to a party a couple of days later at Peter Lawford’s beach house because she wanted to rest and be refreshed for her press conference that coming Monday.  I had been going to escort her to the party.

The details of my relationship with Marilyn both as psychic and as friend can be read in detail in an article written about me several months ago.  It can be found at http://voices.yahoo.com/psychic-medium-kenny-kingston-reveals-marilyn-10490545.html?cat=49.

One update I can reveal since that article was written is that in a recent communication with Marilyn’s spirit, she said that she is delighted that “Blonde”, the proposed film about her life starring Naomi Watts, was put on hold and that Brad Pitt has now shown interest in producing the film.  Marilyn has been fascinated with Pitt for some time and in fact several years ago, when her Brentwood home was put on the market, she’d come to me in spirit to say, “Kenny, I wish Brad Pitt and his longtime partner Angelina Jolie would purchase the home.  I believe in their love and feel that they and their many children would bring the joy to the home that was missing when I lived there.”   They did not make the purchase, but perhaps now Pitt can be associated with Marilyn after all, through the film.

Marilyn’s last words to me in the phone call that August evening many years ago were, “Kenny – love is the one immortal thing about us.  Without love, what else can life mean?”  It’s safe to say, dear Marilyn, that the world continues to love you to this day.

What to Expect (and NOT to expect) from a Psychic/Medium

Published May 1, 2012 by valerietalksbooks

I received a comment regarding a previous post of mine and it brought up an interesting point I’d like to share with you.  In case you haven’t read the comment – it dealt with the fact that it would be nice if I could see an award in actor Richard Chamberlain’s future, much the same as I’d seen in the future for actor/singer Hugh Jackman, I assume.

So in answer to that comment, and to perhaps help some of you understand what psychics or psychic/mediums can and cannot do, I’ll respond:

First – yes, it would be nice if I could predict a major award ahead for Richard Chamberlain in his upcoming appearance at the famed Pasadena Playhouse.  I think he’s a very fine actor and I’m sure the production will be well-received.  But — this information is not something I am picking up psychically.  A psychic cannot or SHOULD NOT tell you something just because you would like to hear it.  Psychics must tell the truth about what messages they are receiving.

Also, psychics or psychic/mediums cannot tell you when someone is going to pass away.  That is the Master’s job, or a higher force’s job, and even those higher forces are subject to change.  We can offer warnings to you about your own health or that of a loved one, but primarily in the sense of suggesting that a doctor should be seen, or certain tests taken.  We do not prescribe medicine.

Psychics also cannot or should not offer gambling advice.  I have always felt that in addition to bringing through your loved ones in spirit,  my gift is to help people with their career, love life or business decisions.  I can offer financial advice in those terms – telling you dates or names that might help you make good business or career moves.  But gambling is not something I will deal with because I feel my gifts could be taken from me if I were to dabble in something that unimportant.

Psychics or mediums are also not there for you simply to answer your questions.  The way that I conduct my readings is to tell you what I’m picking up from spirit voices or images and then following that if I have not already touched upon an area you wanted to discuss, there is always time for you to ask any questions.

I would also advise you to beware of any psychic who professes to be 100% accurate.  We are human, and can always leave room for misinterpretation of a message. One case might be that a spirit might speak very softly, or with an accent, which could cause slight confusion.  Having said that, my accuracy has always been stated at 92%, which I consider to be very high.

Lastly — once a psychic has given you information and made suggestions on what direction to take in your life, the rest is up to you.  It makes no sense to just sit back and wait for a prediction to come true – you must help MAKE it come true.  No one will come knocking on your door to offer you their hand in marriage, or to offer you a job.  You must make an effort to meet new people and make your wants and desires known, either in business or pleasure.

We as psychics can provide you with a roadmap of life, so to speak.  Then you as our clients are in the driver’s seat to follow that roadmap and make the most of your life.

Richard Chamberlain to appear in “The Heiress”

Published April 25, 2012 by valerietalksbooks

I had a nice chat with talented actor Richard Chamberlain at a party, and I wanted to share the photo with you.    I’m sure many of you have enjoyed him throughout the years, from “Dr. Kildare” to “The Thorn Birds” to “Desperate Housewives”.  He appeared onstage here in Los Angeles in “The Sound of Music” and will be appearing at the legendary Pasadena Playhouse in a production of “The Heiress” through May 20, 2012.  It promises to be a fascinating night of theatre and I encourage you to attend if you can.  For information on the play, contact www.pasadenaplayhouse.org.

Awards in Hugh Jackman’s Future

Published April 21, 2012 by valerietalksbooks

I had the pleasure of spending some time backstage with multi-talented Hugh Jackman when he appeared on Broadway  a  few  years ago in “The Boy from Oz.” As many of you know, this was the story of singer/songwriter Peter Allen’s life.  I had done some television appearances with Peter Allen in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and had unofficially been his psychic advisor.

During Hugh’s performance, I saw Peter Allen in spirit onstage with Hugh and knew that I had to go backstage afterwards to tell him about the spirit appearance and the message I received from Peter.

We had a wonderful chat (see photo) and I told Hugh – before the Tony nominations – that he would win the coveted Tony for his performance.  Happily, he did so.

I’ve recently seen some advance photos from the new film he’s making – the musical version of the popular “Les Miserables.”  Hugh – get an acceptance speech ready because I see more awards in your future after the film debuts!

FRIDAY THE 13TH

Published April 12, 2012 by valerietalksbooks

Friday the 13th…knocking on wood…black cats…spilling salt.  Do these and other superstitions have you feeling uneasy – or at the very least, curious?

I thought I’d stop by here to share a few words with you about some of the most popular superstitions. For example – do you know where the negativity surrounding Friday the 13th originated?  It began in Biblical times.  There were 13 seated at the Last Supper.  It was believed that when 13 were at a table, the first to leave the table would be the first to pass away.  Judas left first…and was the first to pass away.  The Crucifixion was held on a Friday.  So, putting the two together, Friday the 13th came to hold negative connotations.

And what about knocking on wood?  How many times have you said, “I think I got the job I applied for…knock on wood.”  In ancient Celtic times, it was believed that the spirits lived in trees.  Trees translate to wood – therefore, if you knocked on wood (in those days, trees), you would get the attention of the spirits when you were mentioning something that you wanted to have happen (or something that you wanted to avoid happening).

We’ve all heard about the supposed negative energy caused by a black cat crossing our path.  Again in ancient times, black cats were associated with being the companions of witches, and therefore supposedly were capable of causing evil things to happen.

Have you ever spilled salt and then tossed some over your left shoulder?  Do you know why you did it?  It was once beleived that the Devil lurked over our left shoulder, waiting to cause harm.  Salt is associated with the life force.  If you spilled salt (your life force) you were risking harm coming to you…but if you threw the salt over your left shoulder, you’d hit the Devil in the eye and he would be unable to focus on harming you!

I find these superstitions fun and amusing.  But in each case (including Friday the 13th), I prefer to not take them seriously.  I’ve had very good things happen to me on Friday the 13th.  To me, it’s all in the way we perceive things.  If we expect negativity — ANY day of the month or year — we attract it to us.  Instead, expect good, positive things, and you can overcome any supposed “evil.”
